Giovanni Escobar

Sue Jones
spends a lot of time outside white water rafting, climbing, caving, hiking, and gardening. She also likes to read. She graduated from UC Berkeley with her BS in Biochemistry and Physiology. She worked as a scientist at UCSF for 15 years before she returned to UC Berkeley for her MA in Education and teaching credential from the Developmental Teacher Education (DTE) program. She has been teaching in Oakland for 17 years, 16 of them at Bridges Academy.

Mia Kleven started teaching at Bridges in 2016. Mia was born in Berkeley and she has lived in the East Bay her whole life, except for the year she studied literature and history in France. She went to undergrad at UC Berkeley, where she double majored in English and French. After graduating from college, she did a reading intervention program called Reading Partners for two years before going back to UC Berkeley to earn her teaching credential and master's in education. When she isn't at Bridges, Mia loves reading, hiking, playing soccer, drinking coffee, listening to Beyonce, cooking and watching movies with friends, and playing with her cats.
