Candice Camp (Instructional Teacher Leader) spent seven years at Hawthorne Elementary and has been at Bridges Academy since 2005. She likes staying hydrated, connecting with others, practicing gratitude, learning, laughing, kissing babies, hiking (especially at low altitudes) and singing along.  She has a BA in Development Studies from UC Berkeley.

Anita Iverson-Comelo (Principal) is a multi-lingual immigrant from India. She immigrated at the age of 15 and attended Oakland High School. She later studied at Holy Names college for a B.A, San Francisco State University for her teaching credential and UC Berkeley for a administrator credential and M.A. She has lived and traveled in various parts of Latin American and speaks Spanish. She started working at Bridges when it was called Melrose Elementary in 1991. She left her role as Teacher on Special Assignment in 2005 and returned as the principal of the school in the Fall of 2015.

Rosana Covarrubias (Community Schools Program Manager) is our 1st grade intervention specialist this year and has worked at Bridges Academy for almost two and half years with our 1st and 2nd graders. She completed her BA at UC Santa Cruz. She is originally from Hollister, CA (the city, not the one at the mall) and enjoys A's baseball, rock concerts, Mickey Mouse, drawing, shopping, roller coasters, cooking and food in general.

Jessica Jung (ELD Teacher Leader) is a proud graduate of UCLA with a BA in Sociology and Asian American Studies. She also has a MA in Education and teaching credential from UC Berkeley. She has been teaching at Bridges Academy since 2006 and is a National Board Certified Teacher. She was born in Korea, grew up in Los Angeles, and LOVES living in Oakland. She loves all things related to food - eating, cooking, reading, talking, and teaching about it. She enjoys reading and has a passion for traveling internationally since circling the world on Semester at Sea during college. She has been to over 35 countries on five continents and would like to own an island in the Caribbean or French Polynesia.

Lottie Lynch (Pre-School Teacher)

Stephanie Pool (Culture & Climate TSA)

Stephanie grew up in California, in a small Sierra town called Mariposa. She is passionate about travel and food. In her free time she may be found curled up with a good book, out to dinner, hiking in the hills, reading cookbooks and creating feasts. Spending time with her loved ones is the most important thing- ever!
